Apartment hunting...
This week is all about finding a place to live We should be on international house hunters because we sure sound like the people on that show! Initially we just started looking on the web for possible 2 bedroom/2 bathrooms with a nice patio and then setting up appointments to see them. We would keep narrowing it down to the top two and go on. Saturday we decided to set up a few apartments to look at, but also go to some open "inspections". Inspections are 15 minutes long. Period. If you're interested you queue up and look with everyone else. So we show up to the first one too late to go in, but the agent drove us to his second showing. This was a new apartment the size of my living room and dining room....2 bedroom/2 bath mind you. So we walked back to the ferry to find the next one. We were not having a lot of luck, and believe me when I say that I'm not looking for anything big, I just want to be able to not touch all walls when standing in the middle of the room! We decide to go to the sports bar in Bulimba to talk over our top 2 choices while watching the Orioles play. Sounded reasonable to us! After the 7th inning we decide on the apartment we will rent which will allow us to move right in..we celebrate our decision with another beer!! Dave is relieved... And we set up to go on Monday to sign the lease Then we get an email today (Sunday) from the apartment complex we LOVE that had no openings, but now they will the middle of November ...oh bloody hell! We are in the process to look at the apartment before Monday afternoon to see if it's really what we want and I have a feeling we might hit the sports bar again....lol. I'll keep you posted....toodles!

Good thing there is an endless supply of Fosters! What is meant to be will be! Looking forward to seeing photos of your new home-away-from home! :)
ReplyDeleteWe were thinking about you guys...when watching "Dave's Orioles" the other day! Steve actually said "I wonder if Dave can find a place to watch this game".
ReplyDeleteOn your apartment search, I am sure that it will all fall together... I can't wait to see pictures when you do move in!
"Fall" has arrived with a bang this week...35 degrees this morning. And all of a sudden the trees are colorful as if they were just waiting for a little cooler air and some rain... We hear the marching band in the mornings again, pumpkins are starting to show up on doorsteps around the neighborhood and Steve and I are in our routine of watching college football all day Saturday and then running around crazy on Sunday to get "things" done. Hope you are enjoying your exploring. And your "spring" down under.

Lori - I've been thinking about you both non-stop for the past week! I got your text today and realized I needed to catch up on your blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that you have some housing options, albeit with logistical challenges . . . better than none at all! Out with the cardboard box!
So jealous about your apparent ability to watch the new Downton Abbey season but no spoilers please! Speaking of outstanding BBC tv series, I started watching "Call the Midwife," which started last week - quite possibly the best tv series I've ever watched.
How is the weather? What kind of neighborhood are you in now? How does Dave like his job? Can't wait to hear the details!
Take care and have fun! You have an awesome responsibility to all of us who are living vicariously through you and Dave!

Hey Lovey!
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been out of the loop while you've been traveling and getting settled. Sounds like you've made good progress so far. Can't wait to hear how the last minute option turned out.
I've got your blog page bookmarked so I'll try to be better at keeping in touch!
Enjoy the adventure!!!
Hugs ~
