Rain...and more rain

Saturday we woke up to rain, but we have things to do! And we have to walk! Sigh. So we headed out when the weather broke and walked down to the Fortitude Valley train station headed for Engorra. We walked a couple of blocks to the appliance store to finalize our order and set up our delivery. Everything good until it suddenly got really dark and the rain started sheeting down and the wind was incredible! It was like what I would imagine the very beginnings of a hurricane would be like. The palm tree leaves were sideways and it was so cool! We sat in the appliance store for a while until it blew over and started for the train It's still raining a little, but trains don't care. We saw the train coming and started running and hit the stairs up and over and down and ....missed the train. By now I have no breathe and am doubled over. I can beat you in a foot race , but not running! So we had to wait 30 minutes on the platform for the next one. Walked back to the apartment and watched the storms roll through the rest of the night.

Sunday was rainy as well. But we have to eat and pick up a few things. So we wait for a break in the weather and head to New Farm and some lunch. This is a spider I saw on someone's mailbox along the way....

We find a really great deli where I have the beef stew and Dave has the ham and pea soup. Then we find the hardware store..they are few and far between and we can't figure out why. But we find one and I buy a rolling cart for groceries and an ironing board. Yes, an ironing board that Dave will have to carry 2 miles..lol. So we start out with sprinkles coming down and then all of a sudden it starts raining like no other. We start running to the bus stop overhang which is a hilarious sight with Dave carrying an ironing board and my cart bumping along behind me. The rain finally stopped ..and we started walking again and then it started raining hard again. We are now running to a big tree and waiting until it calms down. Here's Dave posing...

Then walk on to the apartment. Here is a picture of the downtown from our balcony when it was coming down and started hailing.
